2020 Houston IT Hiring Trends and Compensation Report – Executive Summary
Here are the highlights from our annual hiring trends survey of Houston IT leadership for calendar year 2020.
50% of IT Leadership expect an increase in IT budget and 19% will reduce
48% of IT Leadership expect an increase in total IT staffing level and only 8% will reduce
Security is the biggest issue facing CIOs 5 years running
Highest professional growth potential is in Security, Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing
76% of IT Leadership are planning on increasing base salaries
48% of those increases will be in the 4-6% range – the highest ever
74% include bonuses as part of total compensation
59% of bonuses will pay out in the 10-20% range – the highest ever
75% of employed IT professionals are either actively or passively looking for new positions
90% of contractors are either actively or passively looking for new contracts
80% of companies have no formal employee retention plan
2020 Houston IT Hiring Trends and Compensation Report - white paper
The Houston IT Salary Survey is an annual survey conducted by the president of JDA Professional Services, Inc., James Del Monte. The salaries in this survey are based on current average earnings at the time of publishing. This survey is an effective tool for guiding IT salaries year round. However, when using it to evaluate your own salary, you must take into consideration total compensation which has several variables. Some considerations that impact base salaries are bonuses, location, cost of insurance and other non cash incentives. |
